I'm so glad you've stopped by the blog! Have a look around as I share all about my recent work, fun travels and adventures, and a peek into my personal life as a wife and mama.
It seems surreal to actually type this but Patrick and I have some BIG news- we’re moving! Miami has been a wonderful home to me for the past 2.5 years (and 6.5 years for Patrick) but we are so excited to begin our next chapter in Atlanta, Georgia in January 2018.
Living in Atlanta means we will be almost exactly halfway between our parents- 10 hours from my parents in Northern Virginia and 10 hours from Patrick’s parents in Key Largo, FL. After our 21 hours in the car evacuating Hurricane Irma (you can read more about that here) 10 hours seems like an easy long-weekend trip!
So why Atlanta?
Here’s our top 10 reasons why we’re excited to move:
1. The weather. I cannot WAIT to have “seasons” again but it doesn’t get too cold. I’m just excited to wear a sweater in the winter without sweating.
2. The proximity to beautiful mountains, rivers, and lakes.
3. The cost of living. The average rent for an apartment in Atlanta is just $1,203 (compared to $1,905 in Miami).
4: Southern culture/food/hospitality.
5: Distance to so many fun cities (hello weekend road trips!!!)
Asheville, NC (3 hours 15 minuteS)
Savannah, GA (3.5 hours)
Nashville, TN (3 hours 45 minutes)
Charlotte, NC (3 hours 45 minutes)
Charleston, SC (4 hours 45 minutes)
Blacksburg, VA – Go Hokies!! (6 hours)
New Orleans, LA (6.5 hours)
6. One of the most biggest airports in the United States (Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport) will make traveling easy and accessible.
7: The foodie/brewery/music culture.
8: Atlanta is the home of Chick-Fil-A. (Ok, so maybe this wasn’t a huge factor in our move, but it’s definitely a HUGE plus!)
9: Patrick and I are both able to stay with our current employers and move to their Atlanta offices.
10: Most importantly- Atlanta feels like a place we can picture ourselves raising a family one day.
We are so excited for this new adventure and plan to make our last 3 months in Miami the best yet.
Atlanta friends- if you have any local tips or advice, I’d love to hear from you. See you in January!
