Thanksgiving is a great reminder to reflect about everything you’re thankful for. This holiday season, I am most thankful for my family. This was Patrick and I’s first married Thanksgiving, and that came with the challenge of navigating how to divide the holidays between our families. Over our wedding weekend in May, our families decided it would be a blast to do one big Marlow-Schmitt Thanksgiving in Key Largo, FL and I was SO thankful that my entire family (both the Marlow and Schmitt sides) would be under one roof celebrating together.
My parents and sisters flew into Miami and I spent the first few days of their trip playing tour guide around the city I’ve called home for the past 2.5 years. I tried my best to give them the full Miami experience and show them all of my favorite places like Miami Beach, Wynwood and Fairchild Botanical Gardens. As well as some of our favorite restaurants- LoKal, The Bookstore, Monty’s Raw Bar, El Carajo, Coyo Taco, and Panther Coffee.
Here are some of my favorite moments captured from our time in Miami:
After our time in Miami, we hit the road for Key Largo. A short hour and 15 minutes down the road and we arrived at the Marlow’s house. It was the best time having our families together. Between the boat rides, scuba diving, laying out in the sun, board games around the kitchen table, and spending time together as a big family, we truly couldn’t have asked for a better holiday together.
We even saw a huge pod of dolphins while we were out boating!
Then of course, we enjoyed a big Thanksgiving dinner together outside on the back porch and I couldn’t have felt more thankful to be surrounded by people I love.
I hope you had a wonderful turkey day with your loved ones!
